Sustainable From The Start

Community Goods is founded on the belief that we can do well by doing good, and doing good means having a net positive impact on our communities and our planet.

How Will We Achieve This?

Different, From Day 1

To make a difference, we have to be different. That's why Community Goods has invested in sustainable, eco-friendly practices before selling a single product.

  • Putting The Planet First

Before selling a single product, we joined 1% For The Planet, became PETA certified cruelty-free and vegan, partnered with EcoCart to provide carbon-neutral shipping, and set up ongoing donation programs to non-profits The Surfrider Foundation and The Ocean Conservancy. And we're just getting started.

  • Certified Cruelty-Free & Vegan

None of our ingredients or products are ever tested on animals, period. We also never use ingredients derived from animals. Instead, we utilize plant and mineral-based ingredients that provide a balance of effectiveness and sustainability. While this increases some costs, it's the right thing to do, and makes our 4-legged friends happy too.

  • Plastic-Free

Our products and packaging are 100% plastic-free. Instead, we use sustainable paper, cardboard, glass and aluminum - materials that actually get recycled and help create a circular economy. We have even gone as far as ensuring our paper packing tape is not reinforced with fiberglass because fiberglass contains, you guessed it, plastic.

What We're Working On

1) Go past carbon neutral to become carbon negative, by offsetting more carbon than we contribute to the environment. This will be possible once we have more operational data, which is needed to measure our impact. Our current partnership with EcoCart covers the carbon footprint for our shipping, but a greater investment will be needed to cover the rest of our operations.

2) Go past plastic-free to become plastic-negative, through ongoing support of  organizations like The Surfrider Foundation and Ocean Conservancy, which actively remove plastic waste from our oceans and beaches. We are also exploring the possibility of creating new products from certified Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP), to put that discarded plastic back into the circular economy, and keep it out of our rivers and oceans.

3) Become B-Corp certified. Once we have been operating for 12+ months, we will be eligible for B-Corp certification. We view that as a very important milestone, to further demonstrate our commitment to transparency and accountability, on factors ranging from supply chain practices to charitable giving, and more. We are excited to share our progress down the road.

4) Palm-Oil Free certification through the Orangutan Alliance or POFCAP. Palm oil plantations are one of the leading causes of deforestation, causing loss of critical habitat for endangered species including orangutans, elephants and tigers. However, most big personal care brands use palm oil to make numerous ingredients, such as Stearic Acid or Glycerin. But those ingredients can also be made from other vegetable oils, like coconut oil or sunflower oil. At Community Goods, we only work with suppliers who are willing to sign legally binding agreements blocking the use of palm oil in our ingredients and products. Getting certified for this is a lengthy process, that requires significant time and resources. However, it is a goal we are working towards.

For the good of all communities
